Santo Domingo Metro
Construction of 4 metro stations
Construction of the Santo Domingo Metro
The construction of the Santo Domingo Metro is part of the Master Plan for the Development of Transportation in Santo Domingo, an expansion project of the road system to offer efficient transportation solutions that serve a broad sector of the population.
This project began in 2005 and has medium- and long-term development plans.
In 2011, Ingeniería Metálica was awarded a public tender for the construction of 4 metro stations and contributed to this modern and ambitious road infrastructure project. The work was supervised by the OPRET (Oficina para el Reordenamiento del Transporte).
The terminals built were as follows:
- Mama Tingó Station. Line 1: Manufacture and complete installation of the mushroom structure in the platform area of the station.
- María Montez Station. Line 2: Supply and placement of steel beam sections to support existing beams, preparation of the support structure and assembly of the escalator and fabrication of the metal structure of the elevators that connect to the street level.
- Pedro Mir Station. Line 2: Material supply, fabrication and erection of the underground station.
- Juan Pablo Duarte Station. Line 2: Fabrication and assembly of the metal staircase and module at the entrance of the pedestrian gallery.
